2025-2026 Executive Board:
Deborah Aiello, President
Deborah Aiello served two terms as SEPTA Treasurer, and is now President after a two year hiatus. As the parent of two children with IEPs, she brings to us her own family’s experiences, and knowledge gained from Wrightslaw and COPAA advocacy courses. She earned a Micro-credential in the Science of Reading from SUNY New Paltz and continually attends workshops on a variety of education and disability topics. Deborah has spent many hours serving on district committees (Strategic Planning, Audit, Technology) and is currently on the Space and Facilities, Shared Decision-Making and Curriculum Development Committees. Ms. Aiello has been President, Vice President and Treasurer of Wading River PTA, Treasurer of Prodell Middle School PTO, Treasurer of SWR PTA Council, and is the current President of SWR PTA Council. Deborah’s professional background is in marketing and she’s used her expertise to create SEPTA’s website and marketing materials.
Erin Saunders-Morano, Treasurer
Erin Saunders-Morano has been a Special Education Teaching Assistant for the last eight years. She currently works in 15:1, 12:1, and 8:1:3 classrooms, as well as some general electives to support her special education students. Erin worked in a Life Skills classroom for four years, where students worked in the community at local businesses with direction and help, if needed. She is a mother of three children, two of whom have graduated; one with a late diagnosis and IEP. Erin has been the Vice President of the Briarcliff PTA and Miller Avenue School PTO; President of the Wading River School PTA; Secretary of the Prodell MS PTO; Treasurer of the HS PTSA and a founding board member of WHAM. Before holding board positions, she was an active committee member by chairing various activities and events. Ms. Saunders-Morano is a current member of the SWR Legislative Committee and Space and Facilities Committee.
Laura Riekert, Secretary
Laura Riekert has been an Art Educator for over 25 years and is now retired. She currently works as a Special Olympics Level 1 Coach, a Tutor at Reach for the Stars Tutoring, and is a Substitute Teacher. Laura is also Certified in Zumba and Kids Zumba, and she is a member of the Community Habitation Staff at ACDS. Those in our community know her as Sky’s Mom, who is a senior in the RISE Class at Shoreham-Wading River High School. Laura served as SWR SEPTA’s Treasurer for two years and is excited to now be Secretary for our organization.
